Gateway to China

Lạng Sơn is Vietnam’s most important overland gateway to China, with the historic Hữu Nghị Quan (Friendship Gate) at Đồng Đăng marking the border crossing that has connected the two civilizations for millennia. The Kỳ Lừa Market in Lạng Sơn city is a lively cross-border trading hub where Chinese and Vietnamese goods intermingle.

Tam Thanh & Nhị Thanh Caves

Within Lạng Sơn city, these twin caves are both natural wonders and cultural treasures. Tam Thanh Cave houses Buddhist shrines and a freshwater lake inside a massive limestone grotto. Poems carved into the cave walls by 17th-century scholars remain legible. Nhị Thanh Cave contains a Buddhist pagoda and a 300-year-old banyan tree growing from the cave mouth.

Mẫu Sơn Mountain

At 1,541 meters, Mẫu Sơn is one of the few places in Vietnam where snow occasionally falls (December–January). The mountain offers hiking trails through cloud forest, visits to Dao minority villages, and panoramic views of the Chinese border region. The area is known for its unique rượu Mẫu Sơn — rice wine infused with mountain herbs.
